My Journey
Teaching focus at Goyoga Tallinn
Grete Rämmal teaches Ashtanga yoga at Goyoga Tallinn through traditional Mysore-style practice and beginner-led classes. Classes are in Estonian and English.
In Mysore, you practise your own sequence and breath, together in the room with personal guidance. Weekday morning Mysore at Goyoga starts from 6:30am; Grete's own discipline is Mysore practice before 6:00 AM. Led classes offer a supportive introduction. Grete often combines led and Mysore: she introduces and demonstrates, then gives time to explore alone.
How she came to Ashtanga
She first met Ashtanga in 2010 with Jocke Salokorpi, a student of Lino Miele, in Tallinn. It clicked immediately. She helped at the studio and assisted Jocke. After about three months she went to Mysore, to AYRI with Sharath Jois, for three months. She returned, continued practising and assisting, and taught at Jocke's shala, which is also part of Lino Miele's schools. Lino's workshops shaped her understanding of the practice.
She loves the simplicity and freedom of it: a mat, the breath, and showing up. There are deep layers underneath. All practitioners are equal on the mat. Ashtanga is a tool for a lifetime; after 16 years she is still excited for the next morning. The sequence stays the same; the experience never is. She teaches from gratitude, and from wanting to give the individual attention she herself received.
Training and credentials
Credentials she shares: long-term learning and teaching with Jocke Salokorpi (daily practice, assisting, teaching); three months of international study at AYRI Mysore with Sharath Jois; several workshops and retreats with Lino Miele in Italy and India, including Kovalam.
Off the mat
Off the mat she is a family person: her daughter and family are the heart of her life. She grew up surrounded by her mother's paintings and sculptures, so art has always been close; that path later led her into jewellery. She runs her handmade jewellery and ceramics brand Madam Schuster (the name comes from Olivier Schuster). The idea for the line came after she became a mother; the brand took shape a few years later and has kept evolving. She studied International Business Administration at Estonian Business School (EBS) . She is a co-founder of Ashtanga Estonia and appears as a founder at Goyoga Tallinn. She has brief acting credits in Estonian television: Riigimehed (listed as a journalist in the series cast ) and Viimane võmm (also listed on Filmnavi ). In the late 1990s she was a member of the Estonian pop group Click OK , which released the album Lase lõdvaks (1998). She works as a website content manager at Omniva. Curious, she loves sports and feels at home around water, swimming even when it is not summer. She lived six years in Belgium and has been back in Estonia for a couple of years.
