My Journey
Restorative yoga at Goyoga Tallinn
Liis Ugandi teaches restorative yoga at Goyoga Tallinn . Classes are in Estonian and English. Restorative yoga is maximum relaxation and minimum effort. Holds last 5 to 20 minutes, with no effort. Blankets, bolsters, pillows and blocks support the body so it can rest fully.
Through breath and relaxation the body opens, stress drops and the mind settles. The practice lets the body calm down. It can help with anxiety and panic attacks. Sleep often improves. Excess weight may slowly drop. It is a good practice for a hurried modern person, and it suits beginners and experienced practitioners.
Restorative yoga, also called the yoga of happiness, is one of the most pleasant and simple practices. Its effect is no smaller than that of more effortful styles. See the studio schedule .
How the practice started
Before yoga she practised meditation from her early teens. After several meditation and energy-work trainings in Estonia and abroad she started organising meditation trainings herself. She is a long-time Reiki practitioner and a Reiki master, and has shared that work with hundreds of people. She finished Avicenna massage school, studied Chinese medicine, is an Osho-certified meditation leader and a Meta-EFT therapist.
She came to daily yoga after becoming a mother, because her body needed support. She has practised yoga for over twenty years and has taught classes for five years. It has always felt natural to share the practices that helped her feel better in her own body.
Training
How she teaches
She wants to support each participant softly and safely, wherever they are on their path. Her restorative classes often feel like a restart. With regular practice, pain and sleep problems often lessen or go away.
Off the mat
She is a mother of many children and enjoys every moment with them. To ground herself she likes working in the garden, hiking, and travelling to unknown places, both inwardly and outwardly.

How students describe practising with this teacher
Calm, professional and supportive
A very enjoyable restorative yoga class! The instruction was calm, professional and supportive. During the class I was able to really relax and release the accumulated tension. The atmosphere was warm and safe and I left the class feeling much calmer and refreshed. I recommend it to anyone who wants to take some time off and take care of themselves. I will definitely be back!
Very calming and releasing
I am truly grateful for yesterday's restorative yoga! It was very calming and lovely, and I feel well. Somehow it was all very releasing. I cannot quite explain it. :)
